A group of fly fishing friends headed down to the Palometa Club on Ascension Bay, near Punta Allen with Tailwaters Travel. There may be no better way to team build than throw a group fly fishing addicts from across North America – Calgary, Colorado, California, and Texas – feed ’em a steady diet of guacamole and margaritas, and let them chase after permit, one of the most elusive fish on the planet, for 6 days. Needlessly to say, none of us were ready for the week to end and we’re all ready to go back. Two of the gals, Kami Swingle and Paula Shearer , each landed her first ever permit on the fly. David Leake took home big fish of the week from our group with a 26-lb permit. We also jumped several tarpon in the 15-40 lb range and landed numerous bonefish as well.
